    Hi Friends!

We've been keeping this secret for some months while Megabuild (0.6.507) was in development. Now it's finally ready! Here is the newest Linux package for Dropbox. In this package you can expect the following enhancements:

    • Dropbox CLI (man dropbox at your prompt :)
    • New Nautilus emblems (spiffy ones you see on the latest Mac and Windows builds)
    • Dropbox no longer autostarts for every user from Nautilus, you can now start Dropbox from your applications menu!
    • Jaunty compatibility out of the box (finally!)

For you Jaunty users out there who can't stand a single level of indirection here are some direct links:

    Enjoy!

    Thankyou!

That autostart for each user annoyed the piss out me. Yes I know I didn't complain though.

    Yay!

Question: how can I get CLI (dropbox and dropbox manpage, etc) if I don't want to build nautilus package? (I don't run X and only need CLI)

Great work, Dropboxers!! :D I've already got mine running great on Jaunty, so I won't fool around with it, but this will make Dropbox a lot more attractive for any new people that want to try it.

Just in time for Jaunty's release, too! :)

0.6.507 looks like it's working fine in my Jaunty-iness

So we still need to do the steps to install this one:
    1. Stop in Nautilus
    2. $ rm -r .dropbox-dist/
    3. $ tar xzf dropbox-lnx.x86-0.6.507.tar.gz

Or since it is a .deb do we just run it.

    EDIT:
Whoops! I was too anxious. I just added the Jaunty repos:

    deb http://linux.getdropbox.com/ubuntu jaunty main
    deb-src http://linux.getdropbox.com/ubuntu jaunty main

Version is now Dropbox 0.6.509 right? Cause that's what I have now.

    Thank you, this is good.

Now all we need is a KDE client and the circle would be complete

Will there be a package for the CLI only? I run ubuntu-server.

Thanks! I can finally use dropbox on xfce4. It would be better if we have a way to stop auto-starting of the daemon when login.

A memo on building from nautilus-dropbox-0.6.0.tar.bz2: http://zunda.freeshell.org/d/20090416.html#p03 It in Japanese but I hope you could be able to sense what I did.

right click on your tray icon and check the preferences. there is check box to disable auto-starting :)

Great work. The nautilus-tied starting was a major problem for Ubuntu Netbook Remix. This seems to fix that problem.

    Cheers

Anyone tried building the CLI for OS X yet?

I doubt that's how it works. Then again I just signed up.
But a CLI for linux is pretty far removed from OS X and therefore will not compile/work.

And I'm just rather curious why'd we need a CLI for OS X anyway? :P

It worked! Thank you very much for the quick reply. It seems that I miss connections between CLI and GUI.

@CLI: How about an "force-reload" option (for those using network drives etc)
