    Hello our faithful forum build testers. This build is yet another bug-fix iteration on 0.6.478. Try it out and tell us what you think.

    0.6.480
    - Better connection recovery when switching interfaces, you should notice less connection hanging especially on the Mac.
    - The Windows tray icon no longer glitches or hangs.
    - Mac symlink code is a litter bit more reliable (Thanks Paul G!)
    - Other minor bug fixes.

    Windows: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/17/Dropbox%200.6.480.exe
    Mac OS X: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/17/Dropbox%200.6.480.dmg
    Linux x86_64: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/17/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-0.6.480.tar.gz
    Linux x86: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/17/dropbox-lnx.x86-0.6.480.tar.gz

    For an error free install on Linux, first make sure Dropbox is stopped by choosing "Stop Dropbox" from the tray icon menu. Then run the following commands in your home directory:

    $ rm -r .dropbox-dist/
    $ tar xzf dropbox-lnx.x86-0.6.480.tar.gz # or x86_64

    Then start Dropbox again from Nautilus. :)

    Sync Icon on Mac still wrong when a file gets deleted while it was uploading:

    Not a big deal but sometimes confusing!

    Dropbox still crashes finder. Removing FinderLoadCM from the Resources directory fixes the problem.

    I'm on a Unibody Macbook running OSX 10.5.6.

    Testing in Ubuntu 8.10 64bit. No problems so far. I'll test out the connection recovery since I switch networks quite often here at school.

    Dropbox needs to poll for updates sooner after wake from sleep once network connection is reestablished. Testing on OSX 10.5.6.

    Still having problems with .dmg files updating on OS X 10.4.11. Items changed within the .dmg are not updated to the server or my other linked computers. The only version that this actually worked with was 6.402. Any solutions other than dropping back to the stable version?

    I don't think that we will get any Selective Sync or Watch any Folder untill after next stable release.

    Now that I installed this experimental built, will dropbox continue to upgrade automatically?

    I noticed a slowdown in my uploads I went from ~59 KB/s to 35.3 KB/s (it starts high then works it's way down) I have it set to auto and tried setting a 60 KB/s cap, I am not sure what my old version was :/

    Pere, you have to download the latest experimental builds manually from the forum.

    Running on Mac OS X 10.5.6, and my upload speeds have gone from ~200KB/s to <10KB/s. Going to wait till the current sync finishes (which will be a while, sadly) and then revert to another client version.

    Thanks Mohamed. But, If I'm not wrong, dropbox automatically upgrades automatically from stable release to stable release. I had to upgrade to an experimental built due to a bug, but I'd like dropbox to upgrade automatically in the future. What should I do, to go back to normal?

    In fact, if Dropbox is good, is because it always works behind the scenes, without being noticed. (sorry for the off-topic).

    Nothing. If the dropboxer flag a new build as stable your client will automatically install the update. Until then your experimental aka forum build will do it's job.

    I got this, which is actually the same in the older version .416. Is this related to some python requirement I am not fulfilling?

    I downgraded gtk2 to 2.14.4-8.1 and now it works, don't know if this is the only change to be done, for sure it is involved. I hope this can help. Roberto

    Working great on 10.5.6. I continue to wonder why you don't pick one of these and promote it as a general release. :-)

    Dropbox broke a Sente database. I closed Sente on a desktop, left for the university, opened Sente on a laptop, and found one-third of the links broken. I fixed them, closed the lid, went home, opened Sente on a desktop, and found them in good repair. Next I added some references and quit Sente. This morning at the university I opened the laptop, opened Sente, and found the file to be unreadable. I tried opening it on the desktop by VNC but found it unreadable there, too. I sent the file off to the folks at Sente and they pronounced it corrupted beyond repair.

    Hi Roberto, you shouldn't run "dropbox" directly, there is a script in the .dropbox-dist directory called "dropboxd" You should run that. If that still gives you problems could you send us the output of running:

    $ ~/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd & cat /proc/${!}/maps

    Also what version of GTK is giving you these problems? Thanks!!

    After installing 0.6.480 check your Preferences, Network. Uncheck "Automatic" mark to maximize your upload speed.
