    Hi guys,

    The 0.7 series has finally gone stable! This build fixes a couple of bugs we've found in the current stable release and will eventually become the next build we release. The reason the "stable" builds in the forum are slightly ahead of the builds available for download from the front page is that we are testing fixes to a few very specific bugs in the 0.7 series while we are gearing up to give you guys some 0.8 builds. Thanks for all your help testing Dropbox!

    Regarding the 0.8 branch: We might be a few days later than late January, but we've certainly been working constantly on trying to get the new branch ready for forum builds. I hope you're as excited as we are!

    Since 0.7.104:
    - Fixed an issue where some people with connection issues were also experiencing unresponsiveness from the tray icon (notification area icon) in Windows.
    - No changes to platforms other than Windows

    Since the previous stable build (0.6.570):
    - Many performance improvements
    - Many memory improvements
    - Many stability fixes
    - Toolbar buttons added to Finder on OS X
    - LAN sync

    Windows: http://dl-web.dropbox.com/u/17/Dropbox%200.7.105.exe
    Mac OS X: http://dl-web.dropbox.com/u/17/Dropbox%200.7.105.dmg
    Linux x86_64: http://dl-web.dropbox.com/u/17/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-0.7.105.tar.gz
    Linux x86: http://dl-web.dropbox.com/u/17/dropbox-lnx.x86-0.7.105.tar.gz

    For an error free install on Linux, first make sure Dropbox is stopped by choosing "Stop Dropbox" from the tray icon menu. Then run the following commands in your home directory:

    $ rm -r .dropbox-dist/
    $ tar xzf dropbox-lnx.x86-0.7.105.tar.gz # or x86_64

    Does this mean I can actually shut down Dropbox in win7 normally? And interact with it's status-bar icon?

    HELLo!

    Lech: Hopefully, just try and you'll find out soon enough. ;-)
    If it doesn't, then you can always upon up a support ticket, and explain what features you're lacking from the W7-integration.

    Two questions:
    1. Why is this still in beta? Dropbox works fantastically.
    2. I would really like a better way to see the progress of any synchronization under way. Currently, the only way to do that is to hold my mouse over the taskbar icon. The resulting window that pops up is often buggy (sometimes appears under the taskbar, for example), and contains very little information.

    The answer to the first question is simple: Because they haven't added all of the planned functionality yet. ;-)

    As for the alternative method of seeing the progress, you could just right click on the icon. Will give you the same amount of info, but is a bit more reliable. I too have issues with the hover not showing at all times, on my Kubuntu 9.10 install.

    You just have to monitor the forums to find out when new releases are available. They want people who are willing to take the time to particpate in the forums and testing process.

    Windows XP Home Edition SP3. The icon overlay on the tray icon is missing after the install has finished. It shows up inside the "My Dropbox" folder though.

    According to the first post, should we expect the 0.8 version any time soon this month? We've been told back in October or November that it will be out "in about 6 weeks". Almost 3 months have passed since and there's still no selective sync!

    Later Edit: After restarting dropbox, the icon overlay seems to be working fine

    Do you think that one or two 0.7 builds will come out before 0.8.1?

    My 0.6.750 does not auto update. According to the help section it should update to the latest stable build. Should it really update?

    0.7.105 XP SP3 killed my quick launch toolbar on install. Right clicking on the task bar and re-selecting re-enabled it, but i then had to re-arrange the icons. Small painless glitch, but glitch none the less.

    Thank you Arash.
    To me DropBox will be perfect with selective sync.
    I'm totally satisfied with other features.

    Hi!
    Does anyone know why none of the 'stable' releases since 0.7.97 is available on the install download page (https://www.dropbox.com/install)?
