Thanks for that fix. It should be included in the default sources when compiling the software. Runs smoothly on Jaunty 9.04

Kubuntu Jaunty Beta:
Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x21a)!

Anyone had this problem? This happens in dropbox-lnx.x86-0.6.480.tar.gz and dropbox-lnx.x86-0.6.481.tar.gz...

Edit: works great... Python-xlib was corrupted...

To get dropbox working on my Ubuntu 9.04:

I followed the instructions from this forum:

http://forum.slitaz.org/viewtopic.php?pid=8016

but instead of downloading the latest dropbox build, i changed the download link to:

http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/17/dropbox-lnx.x86-0.6.481.tar.gz

(notice it is 481 build)

Follow the first few steps of the instructions after downloading that package, and the dropbox instructions will pop up onscreen for you, and everything works from there.

Does this new 'experimental' build allow windows users to have separate dropboxes on separate accounts? I.e., when I log it to my account I get my dropbox, but when my wife logs into her account on the same Vista machine, she gets her dropbox? I saw elsewhere that this feature works on the Mac side of things, just wondering about the Windows side, as I use both.

Thanks in advance, and keep up the great work.

I just installed build 0.6.480 over 0.6.406 on Windows XP SP3. The install seemed to take an extraordinarily long time; it stayed at about 5-10% complete (with a lot of disk activity) before running to completion. It appears to be running OK, but with several caveats: when I right-click the system tray icon, the popup menu appears to indicate the current sync status. However, the check mark never appears on the system tray icon, and the tooltip when the mouse is paused over the system tray icon perpetually says "Dropox 0.6.480 connecting...".

To all who have been having "undefined symbol" errors. Can I remind you that it is necessary to delete the old $HOME/.dropbox-dist directory before you untar the new one into your home directory? You are encountering this error because of an old file (namely "libXrandr.so.2") in your $HOME/.dropbox-dist directory from previous versions. Deleting the old distribution before untarring the new one should solve your problems on Ubuntu 9.04 alpha.

Btw: There is a similar issue with libfontconfig which on ubuntu got patched but dropbox ships its own unpatched version resulting in the following warnings:
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/11-lcd-filter-lcddefault.conf", line 9: invalid constant used : lcddefault
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/53-monospace-lcd-filter.conf", line 17: invalid constant used : lcdlegacy

This causes the fonts to look like a bit different when compared to other gtk programs. However it does not affect the functionality of dropbox, so it is just a small cosmetic issue.

Is there a reason why you are shipping so many libraries that would have been pulled in as dependency of gtk anyway? (At least in the distros dropbox would usually get installed on). Except from wx almost every shipped lib is installed in recent distros by default (at least the GNOME variants). But if there is a good reason to ship these - shouldn't gtk itself be shipped, too?

If you have a file called libXrandr.so.2 in your .dropbox-dist directory try renaming or removing it.
That file was included in some versions until it got removed recently because of this problem. If you only extracted the new version over the old version without deleting the directory, the file would still be there causing this problem.

And it is running the new version, because it has the updated notification system for Jaunty. The only problem that I had, kind of funny, is that I didn't realize the extracted directory was hidden, so I kept wondering why it wasn't extracting. Ended up reinstalling because I thought it was a problem with ext4... *Hits himself on head*
